JLL names head of capital markets for CEE region

JLL has appointed Mike Atwell as head of capital markets the Central Eastern European (CEE) region and the Czech Republic.

Effective from 1 October, Atwell will be responsible for directing the development strategy for JLL’s capital market activities across the regions.

Based in Prague, Atwell will work with local and regional teams in CEE, overseeing a team of 30, and helping domestic and international clients acquire real estate assets in the region.

Atwell joins from CBRE, where he most recently spent two years as head of international capital markets in France. Prior to this, he was managing director of Middle East operations and head of capital markets at Cushman & Wakefield.

Miroslav Barnas, managing director of Czech Republic and Slovakia at JLL, said: “The Czech market and the CEE region as a whole is experiencing an exciting time of growth.”

He added: “Our Czech business celebrates its 25th anniversary this week and, with his strong track record, bringing Mike Atwell into our team further strengthens our offering to clients and builds on our already market-leading capital markets business in the region.”

Matthew Richards, head of capital markets for Europe the Middle East and Africa at JLL, commented: “The European investment landscape is shifting and we are witnessing ever-increasing flows of capital into the Czech Republic and other CEE markets from international investors into multiple real estate sectors.”
