LaSalle hires Chris Lawrence as portfolio manager

LaSalle Investment Management has hired Chris Lawrence as portfolio manager for its Canadian income and growth (CIG) funds.

Based in Toronto, Lawrence will be responsible for the investment strategy and transactional execution for LaSalle’s closed-end, value-add funds.

Lawrence will have oversight of CIG funds III and IV, and lead the launch of fund V once fund IV is fully invested.

Since the founding of CIG in 2003 it has raised four funds, investing more than CAD 2 billion (USD 1.47 billion) in real estate assets, with plans to grow its product offering and client relationships, according to LaSalle.

Working closely with Zelick Altman, executive chairman of Canada LaSalle and CIG president, Lawrence will report to John McKinlay, CEO of LaSalle Canada.

Lawrence joins with 30 years of real estate investment experience, spending 12 years at Bentall Kennedy Canada, most recently as executive vice president.

McKinlay said: “As our business in the region continues to progress, we felt it was important to bolster our management structure to support this ongoing growth and evolution. Chris Lawrence will be a critical driver of investment performance for our Canada business.”
